GTA commuters know such cuts all too well from years of under-delivered transit promises from the provincial Liberal government.

This is why Justin Trudeau warns of savage infrastructure cuts under the Conservatives, whose platform pledges support for all existing projects and spending - but over 15 years rather than 12, yielding some $18 billion in savings in the short term. There may be no bigger issue in the vote-rich GTA than transit, and the demand so outstrips even the current supply that this is likely to be true for decades to come as the population keeps growing. These are scenes from a city, and a region, whose economy has exploded beyond governments’ abilities to provide the necessary services. But the Scheer bus deftly manoeuvred around them.
